What to Do With Your Family Videos: Creative Ways to Display and Enjoy Them | Oregon Lifestyle Family Videographer

As much as I love the convenience of digital storage, there’s something special about being able to hold a memory. Printed photos have photo albums, frames, and scrapbooks — but what about our family videos? They live inside our phones and hard drives, waiting for us to find the time to play them.

Here are two creative ways to make your family videos feel more tangible.

1. Add a QR Code to Your Album or Card

Create a QR code that links directly to your video, print it on sticker paper, and add it to your photo album — a simple and fun way to add video to physical materials ! If you already upload your family videos to Google Drive, Vimeo, or another cloud service, you can easily create a QR code for free using tools like Canva. I also offer this service for my family film clients, creating QR codes for each video so you can easily add them to your albums or keepsakes.

I’ve made over ten of my own family films since my son was born, and I’ve created a QR code for each video. I turned them into little stickers and placed them on the related pages in our photo albums. It’s so fun flipping through and being able to watch those moments again right from the page.

Add a video QR code to a photo album

Print the QR code on a sticker paper and place it in a photo album next to still images from the same day, on a holiday card, or even inside a love letter to your kids. When someone scans it, they can instantly relive the sound, movement, and emotion of that moment.

It’s a beautiful way to connect printed and digital memories — a keepsake that brings your story to life with just a quick scan.

I used to make custom photo books with Shutterfly every year. However, I started to feel that printing photos and actually holding them in my hands felt more special and meaningful. So I decided to skip making albums online and instead just print my favorite photos to put in an insert-style pocket album with space for writing. I love having printed photos—it feels so much more tangible and takes much less time to organize! And the space is great for adding video QR codes too!

2. Create a Video Album

If you want something even more special, look into “video albums” or “motion books.” They look like traditional photo books, but when you open them, a screen automatically plays your video.

You can store your family film, your child’s birthday video, or a year-in-review highlight reel — something you can keep on the coffee table or gift to grandparents. It’s like holding your story in your hands.

Family films are meant to be watched and felt, not just stored away. Find a way to bring them into your daily life — whether it’s a tiny QR code in your scrapbook or a video album you open whenever you need a reminder of what truly matters.
