Newberg Oregon Maternity and Newborn Photo + Video Session

There is something incredibly special about documenting a family as they grow—capturing the anticipation before a new baby arrives, and then the emotional first moments when that little one finally joins the world. This Newberg newborn photo + video session tells one of those heartfelt stories, from an at-home maternity session to a Fresh 48 session at Providence Newberg.

This sweet family was preparing to welcome their second baby, and we began their journey with an at-home maternity session. Before every session, I communicate with my clients about what we’ll do together, using their questionnaire to understand what feels most natural to them.

I asked what their daughter loves doing with Mom and Dad—simple, meaningful activities that help the session feel relaxed rather than posed. For this family, I suggested looking through ultrasound photos, talking about the baby, reading books and pulling out old albums to revisit memories from when their first daughter was born.

As they looked through the photos, big sister loved seeing pictures of herself as a baby. Mom and Dad shared sweet stories about those early days, and together they celebrated this final chapter as a family of three. These are the moments that video holds onto so well—the way their voices warmed as they talked, the little smiles between them, the sound of big sister’s giggles. It was a beautiful way to honor the season they were in while looking forward to the moment they would finally meet their baby boy.

A few weeks later, we stayed in close contact around their birth timeline, and I met them again for their Fresh 48 session at Providence Newberg Medical Center. These sessions hold a special kind of magic, and this one was especially touching.

Big sister walked into the hospital room with a perfect mix of excitement and shyness, ready to meet her baby brother for the very first time.

Rather than directing them into poses, I gently asked them to talk to their new baby. And that changed everything.

Their words were pure gold—tender, emotional, and completely unprompted.
They told him how loved he already is.
How long they waited for him.
How excited big sister is to show him all the things she loves.
How their hearts somehow made room for even more love.

These unscripted moments are the soul of what I hope every family film becomes. You can feel the emotion in their voices, see the gentle way they hold him, and hear the love that photos alone can’t capture.

Together, the maternity session and Fresh 48 created a complete story: the anticipation, the memories, the waiting… and then the first precious moments as a family of four. This is exactly why I love offering both photo + video—because it preserves not just what these moments looked like, but how they felt.

If you’re expecting a baby in Newberg or the Portland area and want a newborn experience that’s relaxed, natural, and rooted in genuine connection—not posing—I would love to create something beautiful for your family.

What’s one moment you’ll never forget from welcoming your baby? I’d love to hear your story.
